Girls growing up oppressed by extreme poverty and gender inequality are rarely asked what they want …
Who We Are
HOPE for Girls @ VISA (HFGV) is a grassroots nonprofit organization working in Migori and Narok Counties in Kenya at the heart of the iconic Maasai Mara game reserve. We are committed to protecting, educating, and empowering vulnerable girls in the Maasai community, where harmful practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early forced marriage continue to rob more than 84% of girls their right to a safe and fulfilling life.
HOPE for Girls @VISA was founded and registered in 2015 as a community-based organization and in 2025 expanded to a full nonprofit organization to serve additional counties; providing rescue and safe shelter, academic scholarships, life skills training, and mentorship programs to help vulnerable girls escape cycles of violence and poverty and build paths to self-sufficiency.
We celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Maa people while promoting community-led alternatives to harmful practices. Our vision is a future where every girl can grow up safe, educated, and empowered.

We call on the global community to join us in the critical effort to overcome these obstacles and put an end to FGM/C. Let us do that, not only because of the harmful impact of the practice on the reproductive and sexual health of women, but also because it is a violation of women’s fundamental human rights. Together, we can eliminate FGM/C in one generation and help millions of girls and women live healthier, fuller lives.
